International Day of Cooperatives 2021
This July 3rd, the International Day of Cooperatives (#CoopsDay) will be celebrated as “Rebuild better together”. Cooperatives around the world will showcase how they are meeting the COVID-19 pandemic crisis with solidarity and resilience and offering communities a people-centered and environmentally just recovery.
The Barbados Cooperatives Development Planning Committee will celebrate International Day of Cooperatives 2021 with two events. The first event will be a virtual celebration on Wednesday, June 30th, 2021 commencing at 6 p.m and the second one will be a Cooperative Fair on Saturday, July 3rd, 2021 at the Central Bank Church Village Green, Bridgetown, St. Michael from 9 am to 4 pm.
We extend a hearty invitation to all of you to come out to both events and support your Cooperative Movement as we start to Rebuild better together!

This exciting virtual event will feature a special address by the Honourable Kerrie Symmonds - Minister of Energy, Small Business & Entrepreneurship, guest speaker Lt. Col. Trevor Browne - President of the Barbados Sustainable Energy Cooperative Society Limited, and presentations from a number of cooperatives on their current activities and plans for the future.
President of the Barbados Cooperative Association (BCBA) - Mr. Algernon Johnson, will give remarks on
the work and benefits of the BCBA and a special project will be launched at the event.

On display will be products and services from a number of cooperatives including: some in the agricultural sector such as the Ujamaa and Addis Alem Cooperatives; multipurpose cooperatives such as the Emerging Brands Barbados and the Women Entrepreneurial Cooperatives - both comprising small businesses with different skill sets; the Barbados Contractors and Artisans Cooperative – the sole construction cooperative registered to date in Barbados.
