Muriel Parris devoted 59 years of service to the credit union movement and held the distinction of being the first and only female President of the Barbados Co-operative & Credit Union League Limited.

Conrad Hill is often described as being the most dedicated, faithful, and most persevering pioneer of the credit union movement in Barbados. As a founding member of Shamrock Cooperative Credit Union Ltd, he was instrumental in helping to organize other credit unions and was the driving force behind the formation of the Barbados Credit Union League in 1957.
